PURPOSE
Able to drive and respond to incidents with minimum delay as well as provide ambulance services and respond on / off duty to medical emergencies.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Drive ambulance and transport sick, injured or convalescent persons
Place patients on stretchers and load stretchers into ambulances, usually with the assistance from fellow employees
Accompany and assist emergency personnel when required
Replace supplies and disposable items on ambulances
Administer first aid, such as bandaging, splinting
Conduct daily inspections on the ambulance
Ensure all medical supplies and equipment is in order
Must be mentally and physically fit
Ensure good maintenance of all fire fighting vehicles.
Maintain record of all emergency Medical Equipment
Ensure efficient turnout during emergency medical drills.
Other duties as directed by the Supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS
Grade 12 Certificate
Must have a valid advance first aid certificate issued through a recognised institute approved by the chamber of mines
Must have a valid driving license (Class PSV)
Must be mentally and physically fit
Must be Computer Literate
EXPERIENCE
A minimum of 5 years’ experience with at least 2 years in the mining industry
