Agricultural Sales Consultant

The position will be a Consultant position and will be a commission based package


Strong Agricultural background

Knowledge of Beef, Dairy, Goats , Pigs and Poultry


3.1           Commercial Farmers:

Objective: To become a valued business partner to the commercial livestock farmers:

a) Identify key farmers in the Territory.
b) Achieve required call rate to support farmers as per Export Manager Objectives (5-6 per day) as well as maintain a 100% visit coverage per quarter of these key tanners and record visit detail in CRM system.
c) Implement and execute appropriate strategies and campaigns as presented by the Company’s marketing team at the Company’s offices in South Africa, and identify and give feedback to the marketing team of possible innovative value added strategies that can be implemented at fanner level, if relevant to the
d) Assist marketing team in product development by supporting product specific trials on farms
e) Inform and educate farmers on the appropriate use and benefits (for example by using Return on Investment Models of all available products. Support farmers with the appropriately designed herd health strategies.
g) Direct farmer product queries through to marketing team and the local serving veterinarian
h) Be responsible for the professional investigation of all product queries and Adverse Drug Reactions/complaints within Company guidelines to ensure customer
i) Support organised agriculture and farmer organisations in
j) Attend appropriate production animal auctions and sales related congresses and important meetings, to improve visibility of the
3.1            Communal Farmers:

Objective: To train and develop the communal market:

a) Identify key communal markets within the Territory
b) Identify key species segments within this market focusing on Livestock and Poultry production.
c) Identify opinion leaders within the communal farming segment for the livestock and poultry segment and record details in CRM
d) Identify key product needs within these segments.
e) Develop a training program with a focus on improving the level of animal husbandry within the livestock/poultry in the communal market segment.
f) Hold training seminars within each communal market.
3.1           Agri Retail and Distribution:

Objective: Become a valued business partner with the Company’s distribution partners to ensure business opportunities are maximised.

a}       Strengthen current Company relationships with current distribution partners and maintain superior service levels to ensure continuity of Company products availability.

b) Ensure the distributors front office and branch staff are trained and informed on all Company
c) Attend to all stock on shelves, ensure appropriate stock levels in all branches, manage stock expiry, obsolescence and ensure all stock management (expiry/orders) is conducted within the guidelines of the Company trading
d) Report all visits and actions taken in CRM
e) Explore options with the branch to maximise merchandising
f) Implement all relevant campaigns at branch level as communicated by the marketing team.
g) Monitor and report opposition and competing company activities within the region.
h) Give feedback of any appropriate information to the Export Manager.
i) Ensure implementation of agreed pricing
j) Where possible conduct field visits with branch staff and management.
k) Where applicable arrange in store promotions with distribution partners keeping in line with the relevant marketing campaigns as set by the Export manager
