The Geoscientist role is an entry-level professional position, a part of a multi-disciplinary field based team liable for the efficient and safe execution of exploration projects undertaking a variety of ordinary technical and operational project tasks. The Geoscientist will work under close direction within the team environment, and as experience increases, it assumes first line supervisory responsibilities for non-professional field staff (e.g. geological technicians and native contractors). Geoscientists at this level undertake development to accumulate and apply generalist exploration competencies (e.g. commodities, disciplines, geographic area), and an understanding of the work environment and systems. The primary role of the geoscientist it to use technical knowledge and skills to projects undertaking a variety of ordinary technical and project tasks while developing generalist exploration competencies. The geoscientist spends considerable time within the field and should work with or without direct supervision but always under close direction. Operational and technical problems will frequently arise and can got to be addressed with guidance or assistance from experienced staff where required The role is predicated in Zambia and hence you want to have rights to figure locally because the role are going to be FIFO (fly in, fly out) out of Lusaka or DIDO (drive in, drive out) to camp on a 3 week within the field: 1 week off rotation. Reporting to the Senior Project Geoscientist, you will: Assist altogether aspects of exploration programs through:Collecting and preparing technical data including samples, geological maps, drill samples, geological logs of drill core, drill core property tests and geophysical Preparing and submitting maps, records of exploration targets and reports on exploration Assisting in planning and conducting reconnaissance trips, exploration programs and mineral deposit evaluation; and Contributing to geological presentations on potential Assist the project manager with contractor management through the supervision of drill and geophysical crews using standard work practices. Take responsibility for own and nominated staff performance in line with RT principles of Collaboration and Living the Contribute to technical and support related improvements for the project by understanding the project complexities and suggesting and implementing improved ways of delivering quality Preparing and submitting maps, records of exploration targets, presentations and reports on exploration activity Assisting in planning and conducting reconnaissance trips, exploration programmes and mineral deposit evaluation Supervision of local field teams About you To achieve this role, you’ll have: Tertiary degree in geology or related field (with honours) Minimum 2 years relevant experience or graduate Demonstrated interest in working within a field based resources exploration environment and preferably with a diary within exploration Experience working in Central African Republic, especially DRC and Zambia, are going to be a big advantage Proficient in English with excellent written, visual and verbal communication skills Understanding of and commitment to health, safety and environmental sustainability practices within the workplace Interpersonal skills to figure productively within a team based environment and communicate effectively within a cross cultural environment Able to manage highly confidential and commercially sensitive information Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and good knowledge of GIS Driver’s licence (not mandatory but another advantage).
